Boo! October is over!

BOO!!  What’s going on people?!  Can you believe it’s already November?  Turkey day is just around the corner!  October was a (much needed) relaxing, rather low key month for me and I loved it!  I played a couple of private parties here in TN, played some shows downtown on Broadway with my band, wrote a couple new songs, had a girls night, and I even got to go home to SC for a short visit with my family! <3

The first weekend of October my buddy, Tim Angsten and I played a private party for some of my dear friends in Franklin, TN.  It was a small gathering with great people and a beautiful night for live music on the patio. We played mostly original music which is always fun!

As I’m sure you all know, with hectic schedules and life in general, it’s virtually impossible to see your friends other than in passing.  Well, my girlfriends and I FINALLY got in a night together!  Woohoo!  We grubbed out, drank wine, and figured out a way to take over the world… ok, not really, but it was nice to finally visit and catch up with one another.

Me with a few of my favorite women that I’m lucky enough to call friends.

Not only did I get a girls night with some of my favorites, but my husband and I got an entire Saturday together!  We definitely took advantage of this and decided to head to Germantown for Nashville Oktoberfest.  We took our French bulldog, Winnie, and I don’t think my husband and I could walk more than two feet at a time without someone wanting to pet her and/or take her picture.  I should have charged people for pictures… I probably would have made enough money to record another album.  Haha!  Ok, that’s a little extreme, but it did let us break in the beer line a couple of times so at least we had that going for us.

Moving right along….. Tim Baumgartner and I played a birthday party out in Duck River, TN.  Driving out there was quite the adventure with red dirt roads and all.  We got there early to set up and have some down time before showtime, but as we’re setting up, what do we discover? This girl showed up to an acoustic gig without her guitar!  What?!  Who does that?!  Yeah, first time for me!  We had to drive an hour back to get my guitar and as a result we got started an hour late.  Needless to say, I was not happy about that!  It started out not so great, but we ended up having a great show and an awesome time!  The crowd got into and started dancing and all was grand until we had a man down.. and a microphone down.  Nothing a little duct tape couldn’t fix in good ol’ Duck River, TN.

Duct tape saved the day and the show went on!
Me, Tim, the two birthday boys, and their wives. Great folks!

My band and I played our regular shows here in town on lower Broadway and I had a number of friends come see me play – I even had some friends come all the way from Norway.  They stayed for an entire week and followed us from show to show.  🙂  I also had some friends from my hometown that I have not seen in ten or more years come to my show at AJ’s Good Time Bar.  It always makes you feel kinda special when you have people travel from all over to hear you sing.  I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of that feeling!

With the change in weather, I caught the crud that was going around and ended up losing my voice (a huge bummer) and had to sub out one of my gigs (another huge bummer).  I did, however, get to use those few days to travel home to SC and visit with my family.  I have three gorgeous little nieces: Lillian Marie (6), Olivia Eden (4), and Abigail Rae (2).  It’s difficult being so far away from family and missing out on special occasions so I figured those who can’t sing, visit home.  Right?!  It was such a joy watching my nieces dress up for Halloween and seeing the excitement in their eyes. Time, I’m going to need you to slow down…. they’re growing up too fast!!

After driving all the way back from SC, and having only 30 minutes to get ready, I went straight to my gig at The Stage on Broadway.  Talk about a long day!  The very next day my other sister, who lives in Charleston, SC, came to visit me in Nashville.  I guess you could say October was a family filled month for me.  I’m not complaining! 🙂

Thanks for taking the time to read my October blog!  Be sure to check my schedule for November shows, and if you don’t already, please follow me on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).  Also, I will be posting a video or two of some original music this month so be on the look out for that!  Thank you all for your love and support!  God bless!
